Sara Montague is an educator, advocate, and entrepreneur who believes deeply in doing what is right for students — not what is convenient, traditional, or profitable. With 15 years of experience in education spanning classroom instruction, intervention, educational management, and curriculum development, she has built her career around one simple principle: every child deserves instruction that meets them exactly where they are and moves them forward with confidence.

In January 2024, Sara founded What Your Student Needs, ED., a rapidly growing educational services company and Best of Loudoun finalist. As CEO, she leads a team committed to delivering individualized, high-quality instruction grounded in research, responsiveness, and authentic relationships. Orton-Gillingham trained, Sara brings specialized expertise in structured, multi-sensory literacy instruction and K–7 mathematics. Throughout her career, she has served as a team lead, coach, intervention specialist, mentor, and curriculum developer — consistently strengthening both student outcomes and instructional systems.

In addition to her educational leadership, Sara brings experience in retail management, customer service, marketing, and graphic design. This diverse professional background strengthens her strategic vision, operational leadership, and community engagement efforts, allowing her to build an organization that prioritizes both excellence and integrity.

Sara cares deeply for each and every student she serves. She believes education should revolve around children — not the status quo. She is a champion for students everywhere, advocating for thoughtful differentiation, early intervention, and instructional decisions rooted in student need. Her mission is simple and unwavering: let’s do what students need, not what systems expect.
